COROICO

A place where we can appreciate the geographic diversity of our territory in a single day. Located east of the Eastern Andes Mountain Range, Coroico is surrounded by abundant vegetation, rivers and waterfalls. The terrain offers ideal conditions for hiking.

In the first stage, we will ascend to the Royal Mountain Range of Los Andes, reaching an altitude of 4640 m.a.s.l., and after 3 hours we will descend to an altitude of 1150 m a. s. l.

In a second stage, we will observe how the landscape changes from a cold environment to a warm one, with lots of vegetation and fast-flowing rivers. Once we arrive in Coroico, we will visit the traditional coca plantations and go to Senda Verde, a refuge for rescued animals, where we will be able to appreciate the great flora and fauna of the place.

Weather: Temperate and quite pleasant, between 15° and 26°. The rainy season is between November and May.

Ecosystem: Rivers and waterfalls, abundant vegetation, there are species such as eucalyptus, cedron, chilca, koa, among others. Variety of insects. In Senda Verde you can find more than 60 species of animals including toucans, bears, monkeys, turtles and parabas.

Travel time: 3 hours from the city of La Paz.

What should I bring?

Light clothing, trekking shoes, sunglasses or cap, sunscreen and insect repellent. Waterproof coat for the rainy season.
